Calling all families with children between the ages of three and seven!

As part of Bridport Literary Festival, we have a special illustrated talk and workshop on Sunday 5 November at 10am.

Illustrator Ruby Wright will be reading from her debut book, Animal Crackers, doing some drawing and then inviting the audience to decorate their own delicious animal crackers to take home.

In Animal Crackers, Maisie’s head is full of animal facts and she desperately wants a pet of her own.

Her mum says their flat is too small but Maisie discovers that magic can be found in a packet of animal crackers. She’s amazed when a whole zoo-full of animals come to stay, with unexpected results.

Ruby’s exciting debut mixes fantasy and wish-fulfilment with the reality of modern living.

The event is being held at Mercato Italiano on at Unit 3B, Dreadnought Trading Estate, Bridport. A family ticket for up to four people costs £5, and £2 for additional children. It’s suitable for ages 3 – 7 but all family members are welcome.

Ruby studied sculpture, worked at the BBC and took a foray into printmaking before embarking on a career in picture books. She tries to draw from life every day. Animal Crackers was published in May 2023 by Rocket Bird Books.

For tickets, go online, visit Bridport Tourist Information Centre in person or ring the box office on 01308 424901.
