About the Festival

Our Vision: A festival where stories, ideas and imagination are celebrated, inspiring curiosity and connecting people

Our Mission: To curate a vibrant annual programme of literary events that connects audiences with writers, fosters creative exchange, and makes literature accessible to all.

What We Do

As the nights draw in, every year in November, authors and audiences gather in Bridport to celebrate books and exchange ideas across a rich and wide-ranging programme.

Directed by Adrian Turpin OBE, formerly of the Wigtown Book Festival in Scotland, the festival, affectionately known as ‘BridLit’, presents a week-long festival in November of more than 65 events and activities, hosted in some of Bridport’s most characterful and best-loved venues. The programme covers a broad variety of genres from fiction and poetry to politics, nature, history and memoir.

We hope this year’s programme offers moments of inspiration and discovery for all who attend.
