What makes a monster?
Some are monstrously large, like the horrific Kraken, stretching a mile long. Or some look beastly, like the Manticore, with the face of a lion, the body of a man, and the tail of a scorpion. And then some are just plain terrible, like the Basilisk, which is poisonous just to touch, and will turn you to stone with a glance.
We’ve told stories of monsters for aeons. Perhaps we love to feel a bit scared, or maybe it’s because bad monsters make us want to be good.
Whatever the reason behind our love of beastly tales, our local professional storyteller, Martin Maudsley, is carrying this ancient tradition forward in his new book, Monsterlogica.
Join Martin on Saturday 19th September as he tells tales of the monstrous, terrible, and bizarre creatures from all across the world. Best for children aged 7–12 (and brave grown-ups!), this storytelling session will have imaginations flying high as an Eastern Dragon!
